The manufacturing process for PE pipes can be done by extrusion and for their accessories they are usually manufactured by injection.

The entire production process of these pipes is controlled in a methodical, regular and computerized way, regulating all the parameters and the final quality of the PE pipes and accessories.

PE Pipes

Extrusion tube manufacturing

In the PE pipe manufacturing process, the plastic compound in the form of a ganza is passed through the extruder machine, where the PE is heated and then plasticized until it comes out through the head where the annular section nozzle is, which defines the diameter and the final thickness of the tube.

At the exit of the tube by the extruder machine it is calibrated and cooled in a vacuum tank with the already hardened form.

Then the tubes manufactured according to the current regulations are marked and the tubes are cut normally in lengths of 6 meters.

Manufacture of accessories by injection

PE accessories are usually manufactured in injectors, it is very important to choose the plasticizing unit and the mold well.

The premix powder or granulate is introduced into the injection unit, plasticized and dosed inside the mold in the shape of the selected accessory, once it has cooled, the mold is opened and the PE accessory is classified.

Let’s now look at some of the general characteristics associated with the PE pipe manufacturing process.

General characteristics in the PE pipe manufacturing process:

-Tubes and accessories manufactured according to UNE-EN 12201. The color of the tubes is blue or black with a blue band.

-Tubes and accessories manufactured according to the UNE-EN 13244 standard. The color of the tubes is black or black with a brown band.

-Compact wall pipes

-The surface both inside and outside is smooth

-The joining systems can be: by butt welding and for electrofusion fittings, by mechanical accessories

- diameter ranges from 20mm to 1600mm

- usual pressure range include  4,6,10,16,20,25 bar.
